Worlds Away

To close off our last Friday evening together in Montreal, we attended the new film release of Cirque du Soleil’s production Worlds Away.  As a principle at the Montreal Campus, we encourage students to delve into anything local and Cirque du Soleil is indeed one of Quebec’s greatest exports.   As a tradition, if circumstances permit, we aim to “close” the semester with a Cirque du Soleil spectacle.  As there were no shows in town, we did however succeed in delivering the Cirque brand with their new and first ever film release that involved director James Cameron.  The film delivers some of the best segments from the Cirque’s numbers.  I identified clips from Amaluna, the Beatles, Elvis etc…   The only setback is that when you sit down at a theatre you have every expectation of seeing a suspension of reality and special effects.  In any case, it was a fine way to spend a last evening with students and made me look forward to the next opportunity to see a Cirque du Soleil spectacle.
